Renewable Energy
Renewable energy generated from the sun, biomass and ocean currents can supply a greater portion of Florida’s energy
needs – while improving our environment, increasing fuel diversity and spurring economic development. Nature offers a
variety of freely available options for producing energy with Florida’s robust agricultural community. It is mainly a
question of how to convert sunlight, biomass or water into electricity, fuel, heat or power as efficiently, sustainably
and cost-effectively as possible.
The renewable energy market is indeed growing and the public has spoken. With decades of technological progress,
renewable energy development and production is moving steadily into the mainstream. Increasing Florida’s portfolio of
renewable energy resources can protect public health, improve environmental quality, stimulate sustainable economic
development, create new employment opportunities and reduce reliance on imported fuels.
To that end, The Sunshine State Renewable Energy Expo & Symposium creates
a forum for renewable energy industry leaders, auxiliary
renewable energy businesses, renewable energy developers, investors, government
officials
and the public to
engage in an action plan that will galvanize thoughtful public
policy to make Florida the leader in renewable energy. The
event will highlight Florida’s current and prospective renewable energy projects, provide recommendations that will
spur the renewable energy industry in Florida, have an overview of financial and policy opportunities for the renewable
energy industry in Florida and present networking opportunities with like-minded individuals and organizations.
With a host committee consisting of the Florida Renewable Energy Producers Association (FREPA), Dobson, Craig and Associates,
Council for Sustainable Florida, Tallahassee’s Mary Brogan Museum, Florida Solar Energy Center, Go Green Strategies and the
Florida Biofuels Association, the event will be held on Tuesday, March 11 & Wednesday March 12, 2008 at the Mary Brogan Museum
on Kleman Plaza in Tallahassee, Florida.
